This trail is located in Dahir - Fujairah, on the way from RAK to Dibba nearby the very famous Ghub "Rainbow Valley" (Spectrum) and Wadi Fay hiking area.
Its an easy to moderate level hike with the attraction of some sulfur pools and caves depending on the season that you hike it.
You can park here, any type of vehicle can reach here.

We hiked anti clockwise, so we hiked the mountains first and reached the water pools for refreshing dip.
You can refer the pictures.
You will walk on an offroad for about 1 Km and then gradually you will merge into a dry and narrow Wadi.
You will pass by few farms, plantations and a dam too. The dam was dry when we hiked there.
There are few twists and turns here and there, so keep monitoring the trail.
The whole trail has lots of large sized multi stones type cairns ( must have been painstaking and skilled project), so just keep looking out for them. You can find them at every turn.
After the first km, the wadi is almost dry (in rainy season you can expect more water content). You can also see some trees and flowers.
As this whole trail has water pools, that also means that there are some fish, frogs, bees and other reptiles which forms a food chain. That also means there will be snakes around and possibly in water ponds.
We saw almost 1 meter long full grown saw scaled viper very close to our feet on the trail.
Please be careful.
You will also notice are the caves in the mountains.. there are a number of caves, different in size..
There are some intersection points in which you can see arrow mark for direction. The walk through the dry wadi is not that boring, the rocks are polished (cz of the water flow) and there are some dry ponds which are nicely shaped and deep.
Once it is rainy season, it will be difficult to do the full loop since wadiing the wadi / pools will be bit tricky due to depth, slippery boulders etc.
Points to note:
- Mobile network is not always available
- Some points are tricky as the wadi is going in one direction but the trail is actually the other direction
- Most of the areas are exposed to sun. Even if it’s an easy+ hike, keep enough water / electrolytes according to the climate
- Water presence in wadi / pools depends on rain / season
- Check the pools and ensure it is safe before getting into it

It's a nice walk and the pools were so clean and refreshing after a humid day hike.

Excellent hike! We came off the main road (wasn’t sure we could go through but we did and parked under the tree. It’s actually on Google maps! It took us (2 ladies) 5 hours🤪 easy to follow the markers (and yellow arrows!) and a nice steady walk. I guess for us the heat was a killer… I took 2 litres and it only just lasted (next time I’ll take 3!). Towards the end of the loop there was a big of a climb and I’m glad we did the loop anti clockwise!!! We loved the pools…didn’t see any snakes (thanks god!) but saw lots of frogs fish birds goats..and even a donkey! Thanks for your excellent directions!

The best hike I've done in the UAE so far! Loved it, must do! We went after the rainy season, so had water nearly all the time (except for the uphill part) Thanks for the clear instructions, it was a good call to take anticlock wise direction.
Hi Ausra,
I'm glad that you found my post useful.
Yes, anticlockwise is best here.

Lovely trail! Well worth it for the sulfur pools right at the end. For families with very small children or others who find it difficult to climb, go in the clockwise direction to see the best parts of the trail, and come back the same way.
Hi Namitha,

We did the trail. It was really nice. We start from the parking lot where a few cars were parked. We started from the trail board and passed by the farm. We saw people doing the trail the other way around, which is very confusing. We arrived late and started the hike at 2:30pm and we finished almost on time by 6:00 pm. Few things to point out.
- The trail is easy but not very suitable for kids, or be careful as the entire trail is only walking over small rocks. No much climbing involved.
- You need hiking shoes, or you might risk some injuries.
-Don't go there without a torch 🔦, as you might take longer than 4 hrs.
-Try to finish before 6pm, we saw people using flashlights, but the area is rocky.
- Use the stacked stones for guidance, they helped us. At some spots you will find yellow markings, they were useful as at some prlarts you have to make a choice.
- Bring extra water.
- Accoding to my watch the distance was more than 10km.
Lovely scenery along the way.
Enjoy !
Hello Eva,
Thank you for your detailed review.
People hike this trail from both ways.
Anticlockwise of my trail reaches the pools first, some people have priorities for the pools.
Enjoy Hiking.
Hi! Is there any option for camping at Al Dahir? Not exactly by the parking, let's say? Thanks in advance!
Yes, the parking area us quite flat and there are many spots you could use to camp.
Best to reach in daylight to choose the spot.

Thank you patrick. This trail has the best view especially the turquoise color pond/dam. It is challenging at the same time. I recorded everything inside this trail on my yt channel.

It’s a very beautiful trail but not very suitable for kids.
We went with our 6yo and it was very tricky and even dangerous sometimes. We walked for 2 hours , there was no phone signal (for the whole time) and we couldn’t understand and estimate where are we and how long more to go if we carry on forward. There for we decided just to walk back. My son and husband took a dip in the pools there which was nice and refreshing. Over all our hike was 8am-12.30 pm and after 11 am its too hot for hiking really…😌
Hi Alena,
If you are using Wikiloc premium for navigation also, then you need to download the trail on your device to be guided in absence of the network
It's now April and the area is at lower Elevations and a narrow valley with restricted breeze flow.
Naturally it will be warm.
Please take due care, prepare well and enjoy your hikes !!
